SM Entertainment has announced the actions it’s taking following aespa Winter‘s dating rumors with BTS‘s Jungkook.

On the 10th, SM Entertainment, the agency of aespa, announced, “We are providing an update on the legal response progress to protect the rights and interests of our artist, aespa Winter.”

SM Entertainment stated, “We are fully aware of the severity of the continuous malicious posts and comments involving our artist, including sexual harassment, defamation, personal attacks, insults, privacy invasion, and deepfakes.” They added, “We have identified numerous posts on various platforms that damage Winter’s dignity and reputation, as well as malicious postings and sexually harassing comments aimed at defaming the artist. After reviewing these posts, we plan to gradually expand our legal actions.”

Furthermore, SM Entertainment disclosed, “We are also pursuing criminal and civil suits against those who created malicious posts related to aespa. We have collected substantial evidence regarding the generation of harmful rumors, repeated dissemination of false information, sexually harassing posts, and the creation and distribution of mocking and distorted content on personal social media, online communities, and anonymous message boards. We intend to respond firmly without leniency.”

They concluded by urging caution to avoid becoming involved in such unpleasant matters and reiterated, “We will continue to make every effort to protect the rights and interests of our artists in all possible ways.“
