Son Heung Min Embroiled In “Manners” Controversy With Behavior Towards Female Idol
Soccer player Son Heung Min has been embroiled in a manners controversy, with fans defending the star.

Recently, Heung Min made a drastic announcement about his career, seeing him leave his club, Tottenham.
The star was in Korea for his retirement match, but his behavior sparked criticism.
In screenshots from the recent game, Apink‘s Hayoung was the reporter and while she carried the umbrella for Son Heung Min, fellow soccer player Ben Davies was also holding a microphone but held the umbrella as well.

The photos garnered mixed reactions, with some berating Heung Min’s rudeness and comparing the manners of Korean men to others, but some didn’t think it deserved major criticism.

- “It was rude though, lol.”
- “The comments really say it all — people go to absurd lengths to protect men… even when the criticism isn’t about a specific guy, they throw themselves in the way to shield men from the slightest scratch.”
- “Let’s be real — regardless of who it is, Korean men hardly ever hold doors either. Everyone knows their manners are trash.”
- “The basic manners between Koreans and foreigners are just fundamentally different.”
- “I wouldn’t say it’s a shock or anything… It just makes you realize there’s a real difference in how people are taught manners from a young age. But I don’t think this is something Son Heung-min deserves to be personally criticized for.”
Yet, many comments defended Son Heung Min, pointing out that another angle showed that the player probably didn’t hold the umbrella for the idol because his other hand was holding the microphone pack behind his back.

The match was held in Korea and was attended by many stars.
