Suga, Yeri, B.I, Zico, IU And More Idols Donate Generously To Fight Against The Coronavirus Pandemic

10+ idols who have donated to the fight against the global panic.

As the coronavirus continues to spread around the world, K-Pop idols have begun to donate large sums of money to organizations who are working to fight, treat, and prevent the viral pandemic.

1. Suga (BTS)

Suga donated 100 million (~$83,000 USD) won to his hometown of Daegu, where the first massive outbreak of the COVID-19 virus in Korea was recorded.

2. Yeri (Red Velvet)

Yeri left a sweet message to those affected by the virus, “I pray that the day will soon come where we can take off our masks and smile brightly.” She donated 10 million won (~$8,300 USD) to a non-profit organization.

3. IU

IU donated 100 million won to an organization helping to prevent the further spread of the COVID-19 virus, as well as 3,000 protective wear for the medical responders who are fighting at the front lines.

Her total donations were estimated to be 200 million won (~$165,000 USD).

4. Kang Daniel

Kang Daniel lent a helping hand to the medical responders as he donated 50 million won (~$41,000 USD). His agency stated, “He wanted to help the medical staff even just a little.

His fandom also donated an extra 5.12 million won (~$4,200 USD) in efforts to fight the coronavirus.

5. Son Naeun (Apink)

Son Naeun donated 50 million won (~$41,000 USD) to Daegu Social Welfare Fundraiser with a sweet message, “I decided to extend a small helping hand to Daegu through sharing. I hope the citizens of Daegu will gather together and safely overcome this obstacle.”

6. Zico

Zico leant a helping hand to the fight against the virus as he donated 30 million won (~$25,000 USD). He wrote, “I hope this could be of at least a little help in the prevention from the viral spread in our community.” The organizer explained that his donation will be used to purchase much needed face masks and hand sanitizers.

7. Irene (Red Velvet)

Irene also donated 100 million won to her hometown Daegu, where the largest COVID-19 fight is currently happening in all of Korea. She sent her sincerest best wishes to her hometown.

8. B.I (Former iKON)

Despite his ongoing trials which had finally come to a conclusion, B.I, also known as Kim Han Bin, purchased 100,000 face masks to help those who can’t afford them. He also gifted 20,000 face masks each to his fan clubs in Korea and China.

His total donations have been estimated to be about 200 million won (~$165,000 USD).

9. Kim Yohan (X1)

Although Kim Yohan is still in the beginning stages of his career with a hectic filming schedule for his upcoming drama, he took the time to donate 10 million won (~$8,300 USD) to help aid the fight against the coronavirus.

10. Suzy

After the number of COVID-19 cases spiked in Korea, Suzy was one of the first idols to donate to the cause. She donated 100 million won (~$83,000 USD) to a non-profit organization.

11. Cha Eunwoo (ASTRO)

Cha Eunwoo donated 30 million won (~$25,000 USD) to help those who cannot afford the medical care and prevention equipments in fighting the coronavirus.

12. Lee Seung Gi

Singer-actor, Lee Seung Gi donated 100 million won (~$83,000 USD) to a children’s hospital to help the young children who are vulnerable to the spread of the viral disease.

13. Joy (Red Velvet)

Joy followed suit as she donated 10 million won (~$8,300 USD) to a non-profit organization that’s fighting and preventing the virus in Korea.

14. Seulgi (Red Velvet)

Seulgi also donated 10 million won (~$8,300 USD) to the same non-profit organization as her fellow members. She sent her best wishes for a safe and speedy end to the pandemic.
