Sunny Cries Talking About Girls’ Generation Leaving SM Entertainment
Sunny recently opened up about her new contract as well as her thoughts on the departure of some of her members.
It started when Yewon praised Sunny and the rest of Girls’ Generation for their impact on the K-Pop industry.
“I think you’re amazing. Girl groups are hard to maintain for a long time realistically. Like you know, they don’t have a long life span, but Girls’ Generation was different.”
– Yewon
Sunny appeared speechless at first but revealed that the members did want to reach ten years.
“We wanted to go 10 years but we didn’t make it just because we did well. We were just loved very well by the people who loved Girls’ Generation.”
– Sunny
She also talked about renewing her contract with SM Entertainment as well as some of the other members deciding to leave the company. Crying as she shared her side of the story.
“You know I recently re-signed. We talked about all the things each of us wanted to do but couldn’t, and I related to all the things they were saying because we’ve spent so much time together.
I understood why they made the decisions they made. I understand all of them and they’re all precious. I wish all of them can find happiness. I’m sure the others feel the same way as well.
We are all in different companies and even though we might want to work together and be together, realistically, it will be more difficult. We all feel sorry to one another and don’t want to pressure anyone, so that’s what we were worried about the most.”
– Sunny
2017 was a sad year for fans of Girls’ Generation as Tiffany, Sooyoung, and Seohyun decided not to renew their contracts with the agency.
Despite the change of agencies, however, SM Entertainment clarified that the group remained intact while future activities for the eight members to be discussed.
