Super Junior’s Choi Siwon Named As The First Korean Regional Ambassador For UNICEF

He’s standing up for children’s rights!

Super Junior‘s Choi Siwon is continuing his meaningful role in the fight for children’s rights!

On November 11, UNICEF East Asia Pacific announced via their Twitter that Choi Siwon was named their new regional ambassador, and also released a short interview clip of him showing his support for UNICEF’s commitment to the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), which is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2019.

In the interview, Choi Siwon details the historic beginning of the CRC, and how even 30 years later, many children are still being deprived of their childhoods. For the 30th anniversary of the CRC, Choi Siwon then calls world leaders to arms in the fight for children’s rights, finishing with this iconic line,

2019 is a special year, children are standing up for their rights.

What will you do?

Choi Siwon has worked with UNICEF quite extensively over the past few years. His most recent activity with UNICEF was his visit to Vietnam in October of this year as a part of UNICEF’s campaign to curb bullying. He was also present for UNICEF Korea‘s 25th anniversary, where he delivered a special speech.

We’re so proud of you, Siwon!
