This Is Why JYJ’s Junsu Was Prevented From Leaving Korea Last Year

It was belatedly reported that JYJ‘s Junsu nearly missed his concert in Guangzhou due to not paying his taxes.

According to the Seoul Bureau of Finance, JYJ’s Kim Junsu received a prohibition from leaving the country due to owing around ₩178 million Won in taxes ($159,270 USD). Junsu was notified about his inability to leave the country after stopping in Korea in the middle of his Asia tour. He was in danger of missing his concert in Guangzhou, China but his father paid the money owed.

At that time, Junsu’s agency C-JeS Entertainment commented,

“Junsu was unaware of the situation because his father is the one who manages his finances. Before leaving to Guangzhou, the amount owed was paid in full and the travel ban was lifted.”

A representative from Seoul Bureau of Finance also explained how rare the travel ban is, saying,

“Within Seoul, there’s usually only 30 cases per year where we have to implement a travel ban. The majority of these are for people who owe 50 million won or more.”

This is not Junsu’s first incident involving large amounts of money. Earlier in the year, Junsu was accused of not paying his employees at his hotel even though he sold the hotel for a profit.
