In a viral post on a Korean forum, a netizen pointed out the design of a phone case that Choo was seen using while attending a scheduled event. At first glance, the phone case features a young woman standing in front of a building.

Taking a closer look, the building in the background says “adult goods,” meaning it is a large sex shop. When searched, the phrase on the case, High School Girls of Akihabara, shows information about JK Businesses, which allowed customers to pay for dates with high school students, similar to the idea behind maid cafes.
The artwork is from an account on Instagram that has shared similar artwork featuring various depictions of young girls in school outfits and some in suggestive positions.

The implications of the design on his phone case, combined with the artist’s other works has sparked a wave of backlash and accusations against the actor.

- “No way, the person who drew that illustration is literally a pedophile, right??? Ugh, it’s disgusting, I feel sick. So gross… just no.”
- “I seriously don’t get the people defending this. How could a guy that age have a phone wallpaper of a high school girl and think it’s okay…?”
- “You’d block him immediately.”
- “The fact that a fully grown adult man carries around an image of a high school girl is just creepy.”
