Top stars have yet to confirm “SBS Award Festival” attendance
The SBS Award Festival ceremonies are quickly approaching, but some of this years hottest stars have yet to confirm if they could even attend.
Every station is now preparing for their end of the year awards, which celebrate and recognize the most talented artists of the year. In order to have a successful ceremony, you need to have those artists in attendance and also have talented artists present those awards as well. However, this year, SBS seems to be in a bit of a pickle since they have yet to receive confirmation of attendance from a few of the hottest stars.
Without a doubt, two of the most loved couples this year were Jeon Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun from the hit drama My Love From The Star, and Jo In Sung and Gong Hyo Jin from It’s Okay, That’s Love.
Jeon Ji Hyun’s agency stated, “She is so busy at the end of this year. We are trying to adjust her schedule, but it is proving to be difficult. Whether or not she will be able to participate in the awards is not yet decided.”
Similarly, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency also said, “We are currently adjusting his schedule, we cannot say whether or not he will be able to attend the ceremony.”
Furthermore, Gong Hyo Jin is currently busy with her role on the musical stage and her agency said, “Since she is busy with the play, we have not been able to make a decision about her participation yet. We will have to discuss the matter further,” while Jo In Sung’s side also said, “We will have to see for a while yet, we are still discussing his future schedule.”
Another popular actress this year was Lee Bo Young, who touched viewers with her extraordinary talent in “God’s gift-14 Days.” She was also the recipient of last year’s “Grand Award,” and subsequently she would be the one to present this year’s winner with that award. However, she is currently pregnant with her first child and her agency stated, “Because she is in the early stages of pregnancy, both her and the agency are worried for her well being. We have not yet made a decision about her attendance.”
On top of that, there were a lot of idols actors who shined this year, but because they also have to attend music award ceremonies that overlap, it might be difficult for them to attend as well.
Netizens tend to call these awards “attendance awards” because many feel that they are given only to those who attend the show. This year, an SBS personnel said, “We will be completely impartial in deciding who receives the awards,” attempting to calm the rising controversy down.
The SBS Award Festival is to take place from December 20th to the 31st for 12 days. The location is set to be at COEX mall in Samsung-dong. The SBS Gayo Daejun is to air on the 21st, the SBS Entertainment Awards on the 30th and the SBS Actors Awards on the 31st.
