TXT Earns Their First-Ever Music Show Win On “Inkigayo”, Ending A Dry Spell For K-Pop Boy Groups

They’re the first K-Pop boy group to earn a win on “Inkigayo” since last summer!

Since TXT came out with their latest album, The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION, and its title track “Sugar Rush Ride” on January 27, the boy group has taken home a couple of music show wins.

Their first win was on M Countdown on February 2, the second win was on Music Bank on February 3, and their third win was also on M Countdown on February 9.

Now, not only has “Sugar Rush Ride” earned its fourth win (tying with “0x1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)” as the group’s most-winning song), but TXT has earned a music show win on Inkigayo for the first time!

The song was pitted against two NewJeans songs — “OMG” and, impressively, their older song “Hype Boy” — and ended up coming out on top.

What’s impressive about TXT winning on Inkigayo over other music shows is that the points are counted differently on it. They don’t include broadcast points, and their digital score is worth the highest, making it particularly hard for K-Pop boy groups these days to earn #1 on the show since girl groups tend to perform better digitally.

In fact, this is the first time since July 2022 that a boy group has earned #1 on Inkigayo, when SEVENTEEN took home the win for “_World”! Since then, girl groups like (G)I-DLEBLACKPINK, and NewJeans themselves have overwhelmingly won the majority of awards on Inkigayo.

TXT’s fans are elated for the boy group’s accomplishment, and are happily sharing their feelings about the win on social media!

Congratulations to TXT for taking home this impressive win!
