Underage K-Pop Idol’s Participation In “Sexy” Group Content Sparks Viral Backlash

One ongoing issue many have with some new K-Pop groups is the continued inclusion of underage members. Apart from concerns about the health of these idols due to their busy schedules, another worry many have is how the group may promote.

Underage Girl Group Member’s Revealing “Thong” Outfit Sparks Massive Criticism

Recently, girl group VVS’s content sparked debate online.

VVS made their debut under MZMC Inc. in April 2025 as a six member group with “Tea.” The group’s line-up changed in April 2026 when member Jiu left the group, which was confirmed just after their most recent comeback.

On May 17, the group shared a TikTok featuring the members dancing to their track “V.V.$,” with the lines “Pilates mommy or cute bikini body?” The members were dressed in outfits workout attire and bikinis to match the song’s lyrics. 

VVS’s members include 16-year-old Jiwon, who appeared in the video dressed in the longer sleeved yoga outfit. The other members range in age from 19 to 22.

While some felt that reactions were too much considering Jiwon did not have lines in the video and was not dressed in a revealing way…

…many of the concerns regarding the video focused on the fact the group shared content like this that included a minor, feeling that it was inappropriate. The group was previously scrutinized for in appropriate lyrics, and their most recent release, “Stay The Night” has features Liwon singing the line “You can’t stay the night cause you want me late at night.”
