VTuber Shows His Face For The First Time — Shocks With K-Pop Idol Identity

He’s making his solo debut soon.

Putting yourself out there on social media can be extremely difficult, especially at the risk of potential negative reactions from audiences. One way for those wishing to share content without revealing their identity is to use motion-tracked avatars.

For example, boy group PLAVE uses this technology to promote their music while keeping their real-life identities secret.

Those who post content online have also found a way to use this sort of tech and keep parts of their identity hidden, and are referred to as VTubers. Recently, a VTuber’s face reveal gained attention because his identity was already known as an idol.

In 2019, the boy group Newkidd debuted with an eight-member line-up that included familiar faces, including ex-SM Rookie Ji Hansol.

The group has been inactive for several years as the members have pursued their solo careers.

On April 26, a VTuber known as NEUKJUN shared his connection to the group.

NEUKJUN initially posted using just a tracked avatar, but more recently shared content of himself outside of gaming wearing a mask. However, in his most recent video post, he removed the mask at the end, showing his side profile.

On April 25, NEUKJUN shared a full image of his face, revealing himself to be Newkidd‘s Choi Jiann. The reveal is part of the lead-up to his solo debut, The Arrival, which will be officially released on May 2 and is a double single album.
