YG Entertainment wins five awards in prestigious “Red Dot Design Awards”
YG Entertainment added more awards to their trophy case as they picked up five awards after entering the prestigious Red Dot Design Awards.
Along with IF and IDEA, the Red Dot Design Awards is one of the three major design awards in the world established in Germany. It featured three different categories including Communication Design, Product Design, and Concept Design.
This year, 7,451 entries were accepted from 53 different countries with 17 categories. However, only 568 were awarded a Red Dot while 81 came out with the Red Dot: Best of the Best award.
Making its first entries this year, the Korean agency came out with five awards in the Communication Design with 2NE1‘s Crush, WINNER‘s 2014 S/S, Taeyang‘s RISE, and the YG Family Concert in Seoul Live CD, as well as their collaboration with Woori Bank.
As winners of this year’s Red Dot Design Awards, the pieces will be exhibited for those around the world to see at the Red Dot Museum located in Essen, Germany.
WINNER’s debut album was recognized for being the first-ever project applying a fashion brand’s launching concept to an artist’s debut concept, becoming the winner of the Red Dot Award for an artist’s debut branding.
2NE1’s Crush was praised for its unique album design which was available in both color and black and white, while YG Entertainment’s family concert CD was said to be highlighted the harmony between the old and new generation of singers.
YG Entertainment plans to recruit even more designers for future projects as they aim to expand their design field.
The Red Dot Gala will take place on November 6, 2015 at Konzerthaus, Berlin, Germany with Designer Night taking place on the same night at E-Werk, Berlin, Germany.
In the past, various Korean companies such as SM Entertainment has also gained recognition by winning a Red Dot award.
