Yoo’s absence is already evident in the film’s official trailer, which prominently features veteran actor Lee Byung Hun alongside talented supporting cast members Jo Woo Jin and Go Chang Seok. Despite Yoo Ah In’s significant role in the film, his presence has been minimized to a subtle back view during a pivotal Go match scene with Lee Byung Hun.

The Match tells the compelling story of two titans in the world of Korean Go – the legendary Cho Hun Hyun (portrayed by the charismatic Lee Byung Hun) and his former protégé Lee Chang Ho (played by Yoo Ah In). Their complex relationship evolves from mentor-student to fierce rivals, promising viewers an intense battle of minds across the Go board.

While the film was completed in 2021 and originally slated for a Netflix release in 2023, circumstances led to a two-year postponement. Now under By4M Studio’s distribution, The Match is set to finally grace theaters on March 26.
