16 Idols Who Paid Their Respects to Victims of the Sewol Ferry Tragedy on its 3rd Anniversary
Many idols have turned to social media to pay their respects to and commemorate the victims of the Sewol Ferry tragedy, today marks the third year since the ferry sank.
On April 16, 2014, South Korea was struck by a terrible tragedy when the Sewol ferry capsized and sank, taking over 300 of its 476 passengers with it. Most of the passengers who drowned were students from Danwon High School, and the whole nation grieved with the parents of those who lost their children.
Three years later, celebrities are taking to their Instagram accounts to commemorate the tragedy by posting photos of a yellow ribbon. This ribbon brought the whole nation together as it became a symbol of hope and remembrance for all those who lost their loved ones in the tragedy.
Here are 16 idols who showed their respects to the Sewol victims.
Former 4Minute member Kwon So Hyun uploaded a commemorative yellow ribbon to her Instagram with the hashtags #neverforget #sewol and #20140416.
Both Jimin and Mina uploaded a photo of a yellow ribbon without a caption to show their serious respect for the victims of the Sewol ferry tragedy and their condolences to their families.
G-Dragon uploaded this image of a solitary candle along with a caption containing two candles and a yellow ribbon emoji as if to imitate a vigil.
2AM’s Jo Kwon
Both Yonghwa and Jonghyun uploaded the same picture, and while Yonghwa didn’t add a caption, Jonghyun wrote “Return as a flower to those who lost their lives in the tragedy.”
