For his two leading roles, he underwent drastically different preparations in order to transform himself for his characters.

Lee Junho appeared alongside co-star Lee Se Young in the historical K-Drama The Red Sleeve. In the show, which was adapted from a novel of the same name, Lee Junho plays a cold and arrogant prince, Yi San. His portrayal of the crowned prince earned him the “Best Actor” award at the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards, making him the first idol actor to accomplish the impressive feat.

To prepare to play Prince Yi San, he practiced using chopsticks with his right hand, as the idol actor is left-handed. He also learned horseback riding and how to write calligraphy.

To physically transform for the role, Lee Junho lost 35 lbs. for his character “to look more sensitive.”

Lee Junho had the opposite approach for his latest role in the hit K-Drama King The Land.

In King The Land, he plays Gu Won, a chaebol heir who charmed viewers with the evolution of his personality throughout the series.

Lee Junho worked out to “bulk up” for his role in King The Land, wanting to look “physically imposing,” even in scenes he wasn’t wearing a suit.

Gu Won is a figure who despises smiles due to his wounds in the past and he has a cynical attitude. I wanted to express Gu Won’s cynical side or overwhelming impression even when he says nothing.
