With the start of 2017, there is now a new Zodiac sign taking the spotlight and these are the predictions for our dear K-pop Roosters.

Every 12 years the Zodiac signs repeat themselves, and this year these idols get to celebrate their respective Zodiac Year. Born in 1981 and 1993 (Chinese calendar) these are some of K-pop’s respective Roosters and their predictions for 2017.

Thoughtful, Honest, Bright, Communicative, Ambitious, Warm-Hearted

Apink Jung Eunji "Hopefully Sky" MV
Apink’s Eunji is someone that reflects the characteristics of a rooster well.

Roosters are quite the character. They’re  described as people who are “active, amusing, and popular within a crowd”. They are the people that everyone knows and talks about because their beauty is astounding and their personalities inviting. Roosters are also known for being “talkative, outspoken, frank, open, and honest” people with everyone because they like to speak their mind. An important trait about roosters is that they are very loyal individuals and will be there for those they care about through thick and thin.

There are specific traits that roosters from each year carry as well. For the metal roosters born in the year 1981, their greatest personality traits are being “optimistic, expressive, realistic, and prompt”. They have strong willpower and endurance that gets them through tough times and troubles. However, their restiveness is one of their greatest weaknesses as it highly affects their career. Water roosters born in 1993 are known for their dual personality. While at times they can be quiet and peaceful, they can just as quickly become active and dynamic. Their outspokenness is both a gift and curse as it can at times offend others and land them in trouble.

Overall, the roosters in K-Pop fit this characterization quite well. Their hard work and ambition can be seen through their successful careers. A lot of them have lasted within their groups for a long time, proving their loyalty to both the group and the fans. They’re always dressed beautifully, they are quite popular both domestically and internationally.

Work and Wealth

BTS’s Suga is someone who understands the struggles of working hard in order to succeed.

According to Chinese mythology, as Roosters are in their zodiac year in 2017, they are in a year filled with bad luck. Therefore, the recommended course of action is for these roosters to just “do their best and let things be, without setting their sights too high”. Idols born in a year of the Rooster will have to put in a lot of effort as things will not come as easily to them. This means that money-wise their income may not be the greatest this year, but it will suffice.

However, all is not bleak, despite the rough year ahead, there is a possibility of breakthroughs in their careers that will make the tough time worth it. Thus, Roosters are recommended to keep a positive and serious attitude that coincides with “do more and speak less” at work in 2017.  This could mean these idols will be active in different ways other than the conventional methods, and maybe we’ll get to see these idols expand themselves into different fields.

Love and Relationships

EXO’s Kai is one of the few roosters from the 1993 year to be publicly dating.

As stated before, roosters are loyal and devoted friends. They always keep their promises and are always true to their word when it comes to any relationship be it friendly or romantic.  For relationships, 2017 will be the make it or break it year for roosters.  It is imperative that roosters handle their love life very carefully this year as things are a bit turbulent in the romance department. For those who have been in a stable relationship for a long time (years), 2017 is a good time to get married as it is the time where the relationship can solidify and grow stronger. However, for roosters that are in a current relationship that does not seem to be progressing, breaking up is the best route as continuing the relationship would only make things more burdensome for them this year. Single Roosters will have the chance to find a partner, but “the relationship might not be very stable”, so they must be cautious of their choice and patient as it progresses. This advice is highly recommended to our idols who are 24 and 36-years of age as it is their prime time.

It seems we’ll have to keep our eyes out for the current roosters who in relationships such as IU who is dating singer/songwriter Jang Ki Ha, and  EXO’s Kai who is dating f(x)’s Krystal. We won’t have to worry about Brown Eyed Girls’s Narsha as she has already sealed the deal with her newlywed husband.
