BLACKPINK's Jisoo And Jennie Recalled One Moment From Lisa's VMA Win That They Didn't Expect—But It Was A Pleasant Surprise

BLACKPINK‘s Lisa recently made headlines for her solo win at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards. The Thai singer made fans proud when she was awarded “Best K-Pop” with her solo “LALISA,” which was nominated alongside SEVENTEEN‘s “HOT,” BTS‘s “Yet To Come (The Most Beautiful Moment),” ITZY‘s “LOCO,” Stray Kids‘ “MANIAC,” and TWICE‘s “The Feels.”

When Lisa’s name was called, her expression was one of disbelief and joy. She stunned viewers as she walked towards the stage in a beautiful black outfit, a bright smile on her face.

But that’s not all. Her multilingual acceptance speech impressed everyone who listened. Overall, it was a night to remember for the talented K-Pop idol!

In a recent live event prior to the release of “Shut Down,” Lisa and her members revealed what their thoughts were when her name was called that night. Jennie and Jisoo shared that there was one moment that stood out to them.

They remembered how nervous Lisa was when the anticipation was at its peak, but after she won, it was like a switch was turned on—a confident Lisa appeared!

They were especially interested in her outfit, which had a long train attached to its back despite looking like pants. They did not expect it.

Jennie: It was so fun. To tell you a behind episode, Lisa was very nervous. But as we were walking out, she flipped her outfit like this.
Jisoo: I didn’t know her outfit could do that. I was like, “What is that long thing in the back?”

Afterwards, Jennie joked that Lisa was just pretending to be nervous, but Lisa insisted that her nerves were very much real! Aside from poking fun at her, however, Jennie also didn’t hesitate to praise her performance.

On the other hand, Jisoo looked adoringly at her and said she was “so proud” when she won, to the point where she felt like a mom who was gazing at her child.

Jennie: She was amazing and did a great job. I realized she was just acting nervous.
Lisa: But I was really nervous.
Jennie: You did so good though.
Lisa: I was so nervous.
Jisoo: I was so proud. I felt like a mom.
Lisa: When I saw the photos, your eyes were moist.

When Lisa pointed out that Jisoo had actually teared up, Jisoo explained that there was a difference between being awarded as a group and seeing Lisa being awarded for her own achievements. She sweetly shared that watching Lisa on stage was something that moved her.

When we won the award as a group, it didn’t seem real. So when we received the award, I was like, ‘We won this award?‘ But when I saw Lisa receive the award, I really felt it in my heart.
