BTS Producer Docskim Shares His Trials And Successes In Heartfelt Post

“2017 was one of the hardest times in my life. I was broke, miserable, and lost all confidence in myself.” – Docskim

Docskim, one of the producers responsible for some of BTS‘s biggest hits, has shared his past difficulties and successes in an inspiring New Year’s update.

Docskim is credited with co-creating songs, such as “Outro: Tear”, that fans know and love.

In his moving Instagram post, Docskim shared how much his life has changed in the past year. He calls 2017 “one of the hardest times” in his life, and 2018 “the number one most successful” year of his career.

“2017 was one of the hardest times in my life. I was broke, miserable, and lost all confidence in myself. So I decided it was time for big changes. 2018 was crazy!
It has been the number one most successful year of my career. ”

“As the underdog/black sheep, I’ve always been looked down upon no matter where I go in life,” he wrote. “I never felt like I “made it” not once in my life.”

“But this time I feel like I’ve reached a new level,” he went on. “So ready to make more music.”

He also shared some life lessons he learned along the way, including the importance of prioritizing what matters most.

“Be a kind human first, career driven individual second. No matter who is watching or not, be decent to other people and at the very least, do acts of kindness every now and then. Family, friend, stranger. It doesn’t matter. We are all human beings going thru some s**t!”

He said that people should be respected for their talent, regardless of age.

“There are so many people younger than you that could have way more potential than yourself. Age is nothing but a number. Show someone younger the same respect you would show everyone else. Lazy 꼰대 scrooges with a thug mentality don’t have much time left in this industry; this is a whole new generation”.

Docskim also encourages readers to be true to their craft, whatever it might be, and not to chase after fame. Otherwise, they may lose sight of the love they had for their craft in the first place.

“Be true to the craft. No matter if you are a musician, chef, athlete.. just be great and unique at what you do. Don’t chase the fame and money so much you lose sight of the love you had for your craft in the first place. Otherwise, this just becomes another 9-5.”

“Make time for people that have been a positive influence in your life/career,” he wrote. “Discard anyone cancerous and parasitic that feeds on your success because they can’t do it themselves.”

His final message is, “LOVE YOURSELF”, which is a lesson he learned through working with BTS.

“LOVE YOURSELF. I’ve worked with BTS ever since their first tour and this message really resonated with me for the first time. In the grand scheme of things, everything we do in our daily lives has to do with focusing on something or someone else. We tend to forget to focus on ourselves; especially in a deeper sense. I’ve hated myself for a very long time. I am now learning that loving yourself first is truly the first step.”

But this time I feel like I’ve reached a new level. So ready to make more music. So thankful for everything that has happened… I don’t want to go into detail about what went good in my career (Billboard Hot 100 3 times tho!!!) but rather give some life tips that I’ve learned this year.
