Who Is She? Cosplay Royalty Karina Coser’s Viral Return After A Devastating Personal Loss
When you hear the word cosplay, you may think of teens and young adults at conventions dressing up as their favorite anime characters. The reality is that cosplay has no age limit and is an entire world of its own.
Cosplayers often spend hours of their own time and money to create their costumes, a skill that must be developed.
For some, cosplay is a way of life, allowing some of the most convincing cosplayers to make money using their craft. Some of these cosplayers even develop fanbases and are treated like idols.
One example of this is the cosplayer Karina Coser.
Karina Coser is a Ukrainian woman based in China who is most known for her male cosplays. Standing at 188 cm, Coser can portray just about any character and look handsome and beautiful while doing so.
The cosplayer has a huge social media following across multiple platforms and has gone viral for her fan interactions at events.

Coser’s life in China also included her husband, Johnny (Xiao Fong Johnny or Zhong Ni), whom she met while she was studying in college, and their child, a daughter. Her husband, also an internet celebrity, appeared in some of Coser’s cosplays — most famously their cosplays of Jujutsu Kaisen characters Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto.
In 2022, it was alleged that Johnny had cheated on Coser with another internet celebrity in addition to controlling her money, which was addressed in a video between the pair where they announced a break hiatus from the internet.
Things seemed good for the cosplayer throughout 2023 as she cosplayed more and more characters.
However, tragedy struck in November 2023 while Coser and her husband were on vacation in Bali. According to reports, the pair were swimming in a dangerous area when both were swept out to sea.
Karina managed to get to safety, but the currents carried away Johnny, resulting in his passing on his birthday.
Karina, understandably, was absent from her social media accounts until the end of the year, when she shared a cosplay of herself with the caption “Looking at the sea.”
In March, she appeared at a Loreal event as a guest and went viral at her appearance at the Hangzhou Ad02 Animation Expo, as fans were relieved to see that she appeared to be doing well.
