Dictionary.com Says Searches For “Euphoria” Skyrocketed After BTS Released Their New MV

Fans flocked to Dictionary.com to find out what “euphoria” means, and how it fits into the BTS puzzle.

After BTS dropped their surprise “Euphoria” music video yesterday, their A.R.M.Y marched to Dictionary.com to look up the definition of “euphoria”.

Dictionary.com defines “euphoria” (pronounced yoo-fawr-ee-uh) as “a state of intense happiness and self-confidence”.

Example: BTS was flooded with euphoria when they received their first Billboard Music Award.

In psychology, “euphoria” is also defined as “a feeling of happiness, confidence, or well-being, sometimes exaggerated in pathological states as mania.”

“Mania”, in turn, refers to either “excessive excitement or enthusiasm; craze” or “manic disorder”.

Dictionary.com goes on to define “manic disorder” as “a type of affective disorder characterized by euphoric mood, excessive activity and talkativeness, impaired judgment, and sometimes psychotic symptoms, as grandiose delusions”.

BTS fans love nothing more than piecing together the clues and subtext they find in BTS music videos, so it’s no wonder they wanted to learn more about “euphoria’s” meaning. “Euphoria’s” textbook definition, and the other terms associated with it, may offer fans a new piece of the complex BTS puzzle.

BTS’s new “Euphoria” music video is part of an on-going series of narrative BTS music videos that waver between episodes of extreme happiness and sadness…

…and feature many moments of “impaired judgment“.

“Euphoria”, in particular, appears disjointed and dream-like, which could suggest “grandiose delusions“.

What is real in “Euphoria” and what is not?

If nothing else, Dictionary.com’s “euphoria” definition will certainly give fans even more to think about!
