Do Idols Get A Say In Their Outfits? Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany Reveals All
Girls’ Generation‘s Tiffany has been enjoying her activities back in South Korea for a while now. From the group’s comeback with “Forever 1” last summer to her recent role in Reborn Rich, Tiffany has been once again focusing on her career in the country.
One of her most recent activities was a unique interview with Harper’s BAZAAR Korea, during which she looked back on her fashion history as a celebrity. This included various stage outfits, red carpet looks, and airport fashion — but also some quirky and whimsical outfits for Girls’ Generation’s comeback concept pictures.
Tiffany was able to explain how hard the members would work to fit into the different concepts the group would try, wearing wigs and not-so-comfy outfits for the sake of it.
The idol also revealed her favorite Girls’ Generation concept!
I personally really like ‘Hoot.’ I really enjoyed the ‘Spy Girl’ concept.

On the other hand, Tiffany mentioned “I Got A Boy” and its kitsch concept as the most challenging one for the members. This seemingly prompted the interviewer to ask her if the members had any say in their outfits and accessories — something Tiffany immediately denied.
No, we don’t get to say anything!

She explained that the group did “what [they] were told.” Tiffany also added that looking back to that phase of her life now helps her understand “the impact an outfit can have more.”
Looking back now, I understand a lot more, and also learned how to improve on that.

Tiffany isn’t the first idol to have opened up about what happens behind the scenes of deciding an idol’s outfit during promotions or other activities. Former Baldy member, Tina, has spoken about how much say idols have on their fashion, as well as how this can instigate trouble behind the scenes.
Tina shared that, oftentimes, stylists will consider it rude if idols tell them there’s something they don’t like in their outfits. The idol explained that, together with her members, she had to find a roundabout way of doing it: talking to their managers and higher-ups first, instead of directly to the stylist.
