Female Idol Gives Her Opinion About Weight And Beauty Standards

Recently, Oh My Girls’ YooA has returned with her first single, Borderline. With this comeback, she hopes to take on the challenge of overcoming her limits and finding her true self.

The single consists of the title track, “Rooftop,” along with b-side tracks, “Love Myself,” and “Shooting Star,” for a total of three tracks.

Although promoting solo was difficult, I’m already releasing my third solo activity and still feel nervous every time. I worked on changing my image this time as the company’s employees changed, and I worked with many new people. This is a good chance for people to see a different side of me.

She also shared what she wanted to show the most through this comeback.

There is a side to me that only I know. There are parts of me that I always thought were cool, but there was never a chance to show them. I am finally ready to show that side through this album.

In regards to this new image, she upgraded her visuals to match the concept.

No matter how much weight I lose, my cheek fat is always there, so I worked hard this time to show a more mature mood. I dieted hard and lost about 4 kg to lose the cheek fat.

However, she emphasized that being thin is not always the answer.

I am not saying that thin is always right. But since the concept for the album is a bird, I thought a more thin visual would match the image. I don’t think that being thin is the standard for beauty. I changed my image because I felt that my face would take away from the mature concept.

She was also happy and confident to be able to finally break her own boundaries.

All this time, I was afraid to show other sides of me that I only knew. I always worried it would be awkward to show this side. But now I can confidently say that I have overcome these boundaries.
