Former K-Pop Idol Gives One Piece Of Advice To Anyone Pursuing Their Dream Of Becoming An Idol

He gave a warning that would help them down the road.

Since making his debut in U-KISS in 2008, Alexander Lee (known then by his stage name Xander) has remained in the Korean entertainment industry. As a former member of a second-generation group who once rose to fame, he offered wise advice to anyone pursuing a career in the industry—especially K-Pop trainees.

For those who wanted to be a singer or entertainer, Alexander didn’t crush those dreams. He said, “If you want to pursue showbiz, if you want to be an idol, go ahead.” There was one thing he wanted them to keep in mind, though.

He cautioned industry hopefuls to make their education a priority. Alexander warned, “Just promise me one thing. Just keep studying, okay?

While Alexander enjoyed fame during his U-KISS days and continues to have opportunities fifteen years later, he warned that’s not the case for everyone who debuts in a K-Pop group.

Alexander wanted them to have something to fall back on if their journey to becoming a K-Pop idol didn’t work out.

But if you don’t make it, and after your trainee period… if you don’t have a college degree, you’re going to have a hard time finding a job in the future. You’re going to be lost.

He also practices what he preaches. Although Alexander is still working in the Korean entertainment industry and working with idols, he’s also attending Korea University to have a degree as a cushion for his future.
