Former K-Pop Idol Confirms They Read Fan Fiction About Themselves—Even The Smut Ones
Writing fan fiction is part of fan culture in general, with K-Pop being no exception. It’s such a common thing that idols like EXO‘s Baekhyun have a laugh while reading them, especially knowing how far from reality they are. Yet, some fan fiction is a bit more graphic and deserves a 19+ rating for its subject matter.
Those fan fiction often have smut, or graphic sexual scenes, which have divided fans on whether it’s appropriate. But because it’s so easily accessible on the internet, a former member of the second-generation group U-KISS admitted they used to read lighthearted ones and even shared his hilarious reaction to reading a smut one.
When asked if idols know about fans shipping them with other members, former idol Alexander Lee (also known by his stage name Xander), confirmed that idols were aware and admitted that he read fan fiction about those ships. He wasn’t the only member of his former group to do so, either.
Alexander revealed that fans would send them fan fiction for the members to read. Thinking nothing of it, the members would take a peek at them for amusement.
Sometimes me and my members, fans would show us. They would send [them to] us, and we would check some. And we would read it just for fun.

But there was one type of fan fiction that left Alexander shook. He said, “But the one I didn’t really enjoy was the smut one.”
Shocking himself and the host, Alexander gave an example of the graphic scene he’d read about himself and the members. He even demonstrated how surprised he’d been when reading it.
‘Alexander walked in the room where Kevin and Eli were bla bla bla.’ I’m like, ‘Wait!’
‘And then Alex was jealous.’ I’m like, ‘Whoa!’
— Alexander Lee
Laughing about it now, Alexander could appreciate fans for being “very creative” and talented writers. But one thing’s for sure. He definitely stayed away from reading any more smut fan fiction.
