Jung Il Woo and Girls’ Generation’s Yuri Transform Into Rugged Commoners For Upcoming Historical K-Drama

“Yuri will become known as a ‘goddess of historical dramas’ through this project.”

MBN’s upcoming historical K-Drama Bossam: Stealing Fate has released new stills and described the characters!

Bossam: Stealing Fate is a historical K-Drama set in the Joseon dynasty. It tells the story of Ba Woo (Jung Il Woo), a mysterious rogue who accidentally kidnaps a princess. Soo Kyung (Girls’ Generation‘s Yuri), the princess, is the widowed daughter of King Gwanghae. The story will explore oppression experienced by women and the impoverished.

Bossam, while nowadays is a pork wrap, is actually a historical term for the practice in which a commoner widow would be kidnapped to be remarried to a single man. It was somewhat taboo for widows to remarry in the past, so families arranged these kidnappings to secretly give them new husbands and keep their reputation.

As a noblewoman, it is forbidden to remarry under any circumstances. This show is interesting in this way because Soo Kyung is a widowed princess who accidentally becomes part of a bossam.

In these new still photos, Soo Kyung is dressed as a court lady doing chores.

Yuri’s image was a perfect fit for Soo Kyung. She is brilliantly portraying the turbulent life of Soo Kyung, which includes going through an engagement she didn’t want, becoming a young widow, and being kidnapped. It’s hard to believe that this is Yuri’s first historical drama. We expect that she’ll become known as a ‘goddess of historical dramas’ through this project.

The new still of Ba Woo emphasizes the mystery of his character. Attempting to live in poverty, Ba Woo takes part in many illegal activities and is the main person who carries out the town’s kidnappings (bossams).

Jung Il Woo, unlike Yuri, is no stranger to historical K-Dramas. He has been in many successful series, including Moon Embracing the Sun, Haechi, The Night Watchman’s Journal, and The Return of Iljimae. However, he typically played wealthier characters, so he decided to lose weight and pay attention to rugged styling for this series.

Jung Il Woo has it all. His vocalization is stable, he performs action scenes without going overboard, and he expresses emotions with subtle nuance. On top of all that, you’ll also be able enjoy his ‘manly man’ charm in Bossam: Stealing Fate. We hope that you’ll prepare to have your heart stolen away by the drama.
