GOT7’s BamBam Reveals He Turned Down JYP Entertainment Three Years Before Becoming A Trainee

He shares how he found his way back to the company.

Seven years after debuting as GOT7‘s maknae, BamBam made his solo debut in 2021. The talented idol recently made his first solo comeback with Sour & Sweet and performed a mix of his old and new songs at the We Bridge Music Festival in Las Vegas on April 22, 2023.

As many Ahgases know, BamBam developed an interest in K-Pop thanks to his mom’s love for veteran soloist and former JYP Entertainment idol Rain.

As fate would have it, BamBam participated in a dance competition in Thailand and gained attention from none other than JYP Entertainment.

BamBam revealed that he met with the company but ended up not signing the contract because he felt he was too young at the time.

Three years later, he appeared in a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) commercial in Thailand and was once again noticed by JYP Entertainment, who recognized him from before.

They invited him to Korea to audition this time, and he accepted “right away.” After realizing the “big company” wanted him twice, he figured he should go.

After his audition, he was accepted as a trainee and moved into the dorms, and the rest is history!

Although he debuted with JYP Entertainment, he is now with ABYSS Company. In his Showterview episode with labelmate Sunmi, BamBam was asked if he had to choose between JYP Entertainment or YG Entertainment, which would he pick. Check out his answer below!
