Guardians of the Galaxy’s “Mantis” Reveals Her Name Comes From Korean

Her name is a combination of 2 Korean words.

During a press conference for “Avengers: Infinity War”, actress Pom Klementieff revealed that her name is actually Korean!

 

With a Korean-French heritage, Pom Klementieff was named by her Korean mother.

“My mother is Korean. She named me herself.” — Pom Klementieff 

 

She revealed that her name actually comes from 2 Korean words.

“‘Pom’ is a combination of the Korean word for ‘spring’ (bom) and ‘tiger’ (bum)” — Pom Klementieff 

 

Also, because of her Korean heritage, Pom has visited Korea before!

“When I was a child, I used to live in Japan. I visited Korea a few times during my breaks, but I was so young that I don’t remember.” — Pom Klementieff 

 

Finally, Pom shared that she was excited to visit the country that gave her her name, during the season that she was named after!

“I am so glad that I was able to visit Korea in the spring through this opportunity.” — Pom Klementieff
