IU is currently promoting her new film, Broker, at the 27th Busan International Film Festival and had a hilarious reaction when she was called “mom” during a panel for the movie.
The Busan International Film Festival is the largest film festival in Asia, and it’s back in full force after two years of a smaller scale production due to COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions.
The festival runs from October 5-14, and this year, IU is attending the film festival for the first time to promote her newest film, Broker.
The film also took her to the prestigious 2022 Cannes Film Festival in France, where she stole the show with her thoughtful fan service, stunning visuals, and the impressive price of her jewelry.
IU is already proving to be the main event at the Busan Internation Film Festival, showcasing her duality with the different fashion looks she has worn so far.

She is also going viral for her adorable reaction to being referred to as a “mother” during a panel for Broker.
The film was inspired by the use of baby boxes in Korea, which began in 2009. Baby boxes are where parents can leave their newborns if they cannot care for them. It provides an alternative to potentially abandoning the child in an unsafe location that could be exposed to the elements.
In Broker, IU plays a young mom who makes the decision to leave her baby in a church’s baby box.
While this explained why IU was referred to as “mom,” the idol was clearly not used to the association as it adorably took her a moment to realize she was the one being referenced.
