Kang Daniel Explains The Moment He Was Caught Talking To Himself About Kim Sejeong

On a recent episode of Please Take Care of my Refrigerator, Wanna One‘s Kang Daniel explained why gugudan‘s Sejeong was his role model when he was a contestant on season 2 of Produce 101!

Kang Daniel was a guest on the show alongside fellow Wanna One member Ong Seong Woo and gugudan members Sejeong and Nayeong, when he was asked by MC Kim Sung Joo if he really considered Sejeong his role model.

“Kang Daniel, you chose Sejeong as your role model? Is this true?” — Kim Sung Joo

To this, he revealed that it was indeed true. He wanted to be like “god Sejeong” when he was a contestant on season 2 of Produce 101!

“It’s true. When I was on Mnet‘s Produce 101, I was talking to myself and said ‘god Sejeong,’ and that went out on air.” — Kang Daniel

Sejeong was given the nickname of “god Sejeong” when she was a contestant on season 1 of Produce 101 because she consistently came in 1st or 2nd place in the weekly rankings. Kang Daniel wanted to follow in her footsteps.

He also loved the energy that she brought to the show. Besides, with the last name Kang, “god Daniel” has a nice ring to it!

“She has such a bright energy. I thought I should try harder, so I chose her as my role model. Also, my last name is Kang, so I wanted to become ‘god Daniel.'” — Kang Daniel

Eventually winning the #1 spot on Produce 101 Season 2 to become the “center” of Wanna One, it seems that “god Daniel” chose the right role model.
