The Only 3 Korean Words KARD’s BM Knew When He First Moved To Seoul

He “couldn’t speak very good Korean” at the time.

Although KARD‘s BM can speak Korean fluently now, that wasn’t always the case for the Korean American idol.

Since he was born in the United States, BM confirmed that he’d only known a handful of Korean words when he first moved to Seoul to pursue his dreams.

During an episode of Eric Nam‘s Daebak Show, BM revealed that he came to Korea all the way back in 2011. Somin made Eric laugh by explaining how challenging the language barrier was, “He couldn’t speak any Korean.

That’s when J.seph revealed that BM only knew three words at the time. BM knew how to say grandma (halmeoni), hello, (annyeonghaseyo), and kimchi fried rice (kimchi bokkeumbap). And there was a specific reason for learning the last one.

BM only remembered how to say the dish because he “really liked kimchi fried rice” at the time.

KARD had even more funny stories caused by BM’s language skills when he’d first arrived. At least BM could look back on those funny moments and laugh with them.
