Korean Voted For Their Favorite Food, And The Winner Was Totally Unexpected

Not sure if that actually counts as a food…

A community post asked fans to suggest their favorite foods and vote on whether they like or dislike other netizens’ suggestions.

The original post started off with tangsuyuk, a fried sweet-and-sour pork dish that is a staple in Chinese-Korean cuisine.

After the dish received a whopping 1358 upvotes to just 136 downvotes, other community members chimed in with their favorite dishes.

4th Place – Green Tea-Flavored Treats

Coming in 4th was green tea-flavored treats, which was also the most controversial choice.

Although it earned 531 upvotes, it also received 367 downvotes. It looks like green tea is a very hit-or-miss flavor!

3rd Place – Soondae

In 3rd place was one of Korea’s representative dishes: soondae, or Korean blood sausage. The dish is often eaten with tteokbokki, or spicy rice cakes. While many people love its flavor (thus 827 upvotes), the fact that it’s made of pork intestines could be one of the reasons it received 323 downvotes.

2nd Place – Spaghetti

Interestingly enough, tomato spaghetti took the number 2 spot, grabbing a whopping 924 upvotes to only 271 downvotes. With the growing popularity of cheap delivery food, pasta is becoming a staple meal for many office workers.

1st Place – Cheese

But perhaps most surprising of all is the winner: cheese. Somehow, cheese took the top spot with 1046 upvotes and 197 downvotes, one of the best vote ratios as well. But then of course, many Korean dishes, including tteokbokki and kimbap use cheese to add flavor and texture!
