Koreans Have A Crazy Theory About TWICE’s Comeback, And It Could Be True
K-Pop fans, both Korean and international, have a thing for looking for hidden meaning and underlying theories in their favorite idols’ teasers and music videos. So when TWICE dropped a bunch of beachy photos for the July comeback, ONCEs took them and ran wild to come up with a spooky, fun theory!
At first, fans saw this teaser image as a cute getaway spot at the beach. When a Korean-legend-savvy ONCE noticed the candles, it came to potentially have a whole other meaning!
The fan suggested it could be hinting at the tradition in Korean folklore that associated candles with human lives.
“Couldn’t the candles in the teaser be a clue? You know the old folktale about the cave with infinite candles? The candles mean human lives. Since there are red, yellow, white, green (but let’s say it’s blue), and light purple candles here, this could mean only Chaeyoung, Jihyo, Dahyun, Tzuyu, and Sana are alive and the other members are all “dead” or ghosts… Just a theory though.” — ONCE
Once this theory began trending, other ONCEs added that the outfits must play into the whole thing too and that members dressed in black are probably “ghosts”.

As the colors of the five candles in the teaser are actually the official colors of Chaeyoung, Jihyo, Dahyun, Tzuyu, and Sana, fans are finding this strangely convincing!
