MAMAMOO Moonbyul’s Creative One Woman Band Performance Blows Netizens Away

How many instruments does she know how to play?

MAMAMOO‘s Moonbyul entered as a contestant in The Second World, a reality survival program by JTBC. The show was created to disprove the stereotype that female rappers in idol groups can’t sing by giving them a platform to showcase their vocals. Other show participants include Yubin (formerly of Wonder Girls), Jimin (formerly of AOA), Oh My Girl‘s MimiWJSN‘s ExyMomoland‘s JooEBilllie‘s Moon Sua, and CLASS:y‘s Seonyou.

Many MAMAMOO fans, dubbed as MooMoos, were excited for Moonbyul to have the opportunity to shine as a singer since she originally auditioned to be a vocalist as a trainee. In episode 2 of the series, she decided to cover DAY6‘s song, “Congratulations.”

The cover began regularly, but hawkeyed fans might have noticed that the drummer already looked familiar. Then, Moonbyul appeared on one of the screens, playing the song’s bass herself!

If that wasn’t already impressive enough, she was also revealed to be the guitarist and the drummer on the other screens!

The judges were amazed and impressed by her ability to learn and play the song’s introduction in such a short amount of time on all 3 instruments.

Not even the other competitors could hold back their reactions.

Adding her live vocals, it was a complete one-woman performance. Fans online took to Twitter to show their appreciation.

This, paired with a preview of the next round, which showed her playing the piano, made MooMoos wonder if there was anything she couldn’t do.

The Second World has allowed rappers to perform songs they might have never had the chance to sing. The rest of the season can’t come fast enough!
