The Musical Artists That Inspired BIBI’s “Sexy” Lyrics
Singer and actress BIBI released her first songs of 2024 just in time for Valentine’s Day, dropping “Bam Yang Gang” and “Sugar Rush” on February 13.
The bittersweet love song and title track, “Bam Yang Gang,” is a departure from BIBI’s typical sound, showing off her flexibility as an artist, and BIBI admitted it was the first time she had “put down [her] mind and just enjoyed the song.”
To celebrate the release of her new music, she joined soloist Lee Mujin to film for his popular musical talk show, Leemujin Service, and during the episode, she spoke about the music she typically writes and how she began her songwriting journey.
BIBI stated that she felt the music one listens to in middle school “shapes musical taste for life.”
Following the statement, she admitted that when she was younger, she would write “sexual songs” though she hadn’t had a boyfriend.
She shared that she listened to Jhene Aiko and Kehlani when she was younger and believes that through listening to some of their songs that were more sexual in nature, among songs from other artists, she was influenced to write lyrics that “lean toward being sexy.”
BIBI concluded that she never felt she had to write sexy lyrics but that it instead came to her naturally.
