The ONE Contract Condition Sakura Requested When She Joined LE SSERAFIM

“I didn’t think I would be good at it.”

LE SSERAFIM‘s Sakura has been making headlines recently for her candid revelation about the one condition she had when signing her contract with Source Music before joining the group. On the most recent episode of Knowing Bros, where LE SSERAFIM was invited as the main guest, Sakura disclosed that, to the surprise of her own members as well, she requested not to be made the leader of the group.

Following the introduction of each LE SSERAFIM member back in 2022, fans immediately assumed Sakura would soon become the leader, as she was also the oldest member of the group. Perhaps being aware that, as the eldest, she would be offered the role, Sakura declined the opportunity before it even came up. The K-Pop star shared that the reason behind this condition was simply because she thought she “would not be good at it.”

Sakura’s confession has shed light on the importance of knowing one’s strengths and limitations, especially when it comes to taking on leadership roles, according to FEARNOTs (LE SSERAFIM fans). Despite being a talented and successful artist in almost every aspect, Sakura acknowledged that being a leader was not her forte and that she would not be able to fulfill the responsibilities that come with the role.

Many fans have praised Sakura for her honesty and self-awareness, as it takes a lot of courage to admit that one is not suited for a particular position. Her decision to prioritize the success of the group over her own personal aspirations is also commendable because it shows that she values the harmony and well-being of the team over anything else.

Instead of Sakura, it was Chaewon that took on the leading role of the group, following thorough discussions with all of the members. FEARNOTs and the members of LE SSERAFIM couldn’t be happier with this decision. Fans always share how much they love the fact that the members are led by a responsible leader like Chaewon but also supported by Sakura as the oldest member.

Sakura’s revelation has also sparked discussions about leadership in the K-pop industry and the pressures that come with being a leader. While being a leader can bring prestige and recognition, it also requires a lot of hard work and responsibility. It is not uncommon for K-pop idols to take on the role of a leader, even if they are not necessarily suited for it, as it is seen as a way to showcase their leadership skills and charisma.

In contrast to this, Sakura declined the opportunity to take on the role and chose to prioritize the group’s dynamic and relationship with each other.
