These Are The Qualities JYP And YG Look For In Their Auditions

Park Jin Young and Yang Hyun Seok revealed the key qualities that will help you become the next JYP/YG idol!

Thousands of Idol-hopefuls audition to YG and JYP, with hopes of becoming the next K-Pop star.

And the top heads of the entertainment-giants have revealed what they look for during auditions.

Park Jin Young looks for healthy, well-mannered qualities when choosing his next idols.

“Whether it be men or women, I like those who are healthy.”

— Park Jin Young

“Even if your singing skills and dancing skills are great, I can’t help [produce] them if they’re not bright, pure and healthy.”

I don’t know why I have to help fulfill their dreams [if they don’t have those qualities].”

— Park Jin Young

“Between skill and personality… If someone is lacking one of the two, I will help them to gain both.

But my dream is to find artists who have both qualities.”

— Park Jin Young

He explained why those key qualities were important when choosing his artists.

“Making money is important, but you need to be able to be happy while doing so.”

— Park Jin Young

On the other hand, Yang Hyun Seok has a different priority in finding his stars.

“Park Jin Young says being a nice person is the most important, but I’m the opposite.

To prioritize it, the ranking goes as someone talented, someone who works hard, and someone who’s nice.”

— Yang Hyun Seok

He lives by the rule to be passionate about what you love.

“Go crazy over what you want to do, and be excited about the time and opportunities you are given.”

— Yang Hyun Seok

As long as his artists are passionate about their talent, Yang Hyun Seok has the confidence to help them succeed.

“If you’re a young person, please don’t get involved with album planning. Because you won’t be able to beat me.

I have succeeded in 9 of 10 albums.”

— Yang Hyun Seok

As much as the two record giants differ in the key qualities they look for in their artists, the difference in style definitely shows in their music as well.

The key in becoming the next K-Pop star would have to be choosing the label that best fits your personality.
