Kim Jaejoong asks her why she got rid of it.

Second-generation K-Pop idols JYJ‘s Kim Jaejoong and former 2NE1‘s Sandara Park (also known as Dara) caught up while filming for Jaejoong’s talk show JaeFriends.

The two spilled on K-Pop’s earlier generations, explained why they had to keep their friendship a secret, discussed K-Pop’s fifth generation, and more.

Kim Jaejoong and Sandara Park became friends before 2NE1 debuted in 2009 when the two talented idols auditioned for the same movie.

The two 2nd-gen icons attended the same acting lessons, with Sandara training for 12 hours a day.

Although they admitted they had to keep their friendship a secret early in their idol careers due to the rivalry between SM Entertainment and YG Entertainment, they’ve maintained their close friendship ever since they met.

Jaejoong shared that the two don’t meet often, but keep in contact via text instead. Sandara Park added that she doesn’t often meet with her guy friends.

While discussing their texting habits, Jaejoong stated that Sandara unexpectedly doesn’t use KakaoTalk and wanted to know why she doesn’t use one of South Korea’s most popular messaging apps.

Sandara explained that she received endless invitations to join group chats when she had the app. She referenced one with former S.E.S.‘s Bada, which had 50 celebrities in the chat room.

While she’s grateful for the invites, she shared she’s uncomfortable around people she doesn’t know and ultimately decided to delete the app.

After deleting it, she hilariously added that she was pleasantly surprised at how much “better” life was.

During the episode, the two idols opened up more about how the rivalry between SM Entertainment and YG Entertainment impacted the two companies’ artists.
