What Happened To Rebecca Reusch? The BTS ARMY Who Disappeared Without A Trace

The police had to release their main suspect.

Four years ago, Rebecca Reusch, a member of BTS‘s ARMY, went missing, having disappeared with her “Rap Monster” hoodie, a beige-pink handbag, a pair of black and white sneakers, a red Vans backpack, and a magenta fleece blanket. Although four years have passed without the police finding Rebecca Reusch, neither the police nor her family have given up hope.

On February 18, 2019, the then-fifteen-year-old Rebecca Reusch went missing after spending the night with her sister and her brother-in-law, Florian R. After that night, Rebecca wouldn’t be seen again.

According to investigations, Rebecca slept in the living room at their house on the night of February 17. On the morning of the 18, Rebecca’s sister left the house with her two-year-old daughter at 7:00 a.m. Florian then claimed he tried to wake Rebecca for school at 7:15 a.m., but she had already left the house.

However, before 7:15 a.m. Rebecca’s mother tried to reach her, but Rebecca’s phone was reportedly turned off. Her mother also sent a WhatsApp notification delivered to Rebecca’s phone at 8:42 a.m., but it was never read. And although Rebecca was supposed to arrive at school by 9:50 a.m., the school reported that Rebecca never showed up.

Notably, despite Florian’s claims, Rebecca’s phone was connected to the home internet between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m.

Upon investigating, the police discovered that while some of Rebecca’s clothes were missing, including her BTS hoodie, items like her toothbrush and a change of clothes were left in her sister’s home.

Police first opened the case on February 21, but the Homicide Commission quickly took it over on February 28, and they promptly arrested Florian over inconsistencies between his story and what they’d discovered in the investigation. Florian would eventually be released on March 1 before being once again arrested on March 4, after the police found hair and fibers from Rebecca’s blanket in the trunk of her sister and Florian’s car. But, given the lack of any other evidence, police would again release Florian on March 22.

Still, Florian remains the main suspect in the investigation.

We continue to operate under the assumption that Rebecca did not leave her brother-in-law’s house alive. All alternative explanations can be ruled out after our investigation. There is absolutely no evidence that she left the area of the house of her own volition.

But given the lack of evidence, there is nothing that confirms Florian did anything to Rebecca. Similarly, the family seems to believe Florian’s innocence, and the family lawyer continues defending him.

The police have asked the public for help, and there have been some witness accounts throughout the years reporting they’ve seen Rebecca at an island in Spain or a department store in Krakow, but these reported leads have yet to turn up any new information.

Notably, shortly before her disappearance, Rebecca reportedly cut her hair. Still, since there aren’t pictures of Rebecca with this new hairstyle, police have mostly had to rely on earlier pictures, which might have made it more difficult for witnesses to recognize Rebecca.

As Rebecca still has not been found, dead or alive, the police are actively continuing the investigation and are still receiving tips from the public.
