Red Velvet’s Wendy Goes The Extra Mile To Help Irene Overcome Her Fear Of Heights
For many people, activities like drop rides and ziplining are extremely fun. For others that suffer from a fear of heights, these experiences can become a true nightmare. Red Velvet‘s Irene is someone with a fear of heights, but recently had help overcoming it from her always reliable groupmate, Wendy!
In the latest episode of Red Velvet’s Level Up! Project, the group decide to try out zip-lining while vacationing on Jeju Island. From the start, Irene seems to be hesitant about the experience.
Fans know that Irene has a fear of heights and has had issues whenever the group decides to do an activity that is high up. The members are aware of this so they try to take care of her whenever the situation calls for it.
As the group approached the opened-aired stairs they would go up to reach the first level of the ziplining course, Irene expressed fears saying “I can’t go.” Wendy immediately jumped into action, stepping in front of Irene to hold her hands from the back.
They were able to make it up to the next part of their ziplining experience and while Joy went first, Irene can be seen grasping Wendy’s hand tightly as a source of comfort. Wendy goes soon after leaving just Irene and Seulgi behind.
Irene is able to do the second course of the zipline without much issue, and the rest of the group continues on to the third course. After Wendy completes the course and heads to the next, she says that she’s worried about Irene and begins to give detailed instructions to a staff member on how to care for Irene once she makes it to that part of the course.
It’s then revealed that Wendy played a much bigger part in Irene overcoming her fear of heights. From the start Wendy took care of Irene, distracting her as they were climbing up by keeping her from looking down and singing to her.

She also played around with Seulgi, baby-talking in front of Irene in an attempt to distract her from her fears.

Ultimately, Irene is able to conquer her fears and complete the ziplining experience!
It’s great that she has Wendy and the other members to support her despite her fears!
