EXO-SC made a comeback with their first studio album, 1 Billion Views, this week, and it’s clear that Sehun and Chanyeol have the perfect chemistry for a subunit. However, their close relationship didn’t start out that way. In fact, both members revealed their early impressions of each other today, and they were anything but positive.
On July 14, Sehun and Chanyeol stopped by SBS Power FM radio to promote “1 Billion Views” on Choi Hwa Jeong’s Power Time. While chatting about preparations for their unit comeback, the members began to reminisce about their trainee days.
But while fans may have been expecting some sweet stories about childhood friendship, Sehun and Chanyeol’s memories of each other were quite the opposite.
Chanyeol revealed that he practically raised Sehun as a middle schooler, describing him as “really good looking” and “a baby”.
However, once Sehun reached his high school years, Chanyeol says his attitude turned sour—so sour that Chanyeol actually became scared of the dongsaeng.
After Sehun entered high school, he became kind of scary. Once, I was holding Sehun’s leg during dance practice, he went angry at me and pushed me away. Since then, I became frightened of him.
It was then that Sehun revealed he didn’t have the best early impression of Chanyeol either. In fact, according to Sehun, most of the other trainees didn’t like him because of his big-headed attitude.
When I first saw Chanyeol, I thought he seemed big-headed. Actually, a lot of other trainees thought the same. CHANYEOL didn’t leave a great first impression on us.
Laughing along, Chanyeol had to agree with Sehun. When he was young, he was way too confident and self-obsessed. However, he went on to say that his confidence levelled out as he began to meet the other talented trainees at SM Entertainment.
These days, Sehun and Chanyeol still have a lot of differences. Chanyeol, for example, says he’s straightforward when it comes to love and confessing a crush.
I’m not afraid to let them know how I feel.
Sehun, on the other hand, is the complete opposite, beating around the bush when he likes someone.
I pretend as if I’m not interested in that person I like.
But despite their differences, they’re still showing off amazing chemistry as part of EXO-SC. Watch their comeback music video for “1 Billion Views” right here:
