Although it’s only been three years since BLACKPINK debuted, they are already on their way to being Korea’s biggest girl group.
According to their company, YG Entertainment, the average number of seats they sold for the “BLACKPINK 2019 World Tour: IN YOUR AREA” – which BLACKPINK performed 32 times in over 23 cities over 4 continents – was 96.6%
From those 32 performances, 22 were sold out. The group sold out their concerts in Bangkok, Jakarta, Manila, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Los Angeles, Chicago, Hamilton, Atlanta, Fort Worth, London, Paris, Macao, and Melbourne.
Not only that, they are the first K-Pop group to perform in musical festival Coachella in California. This marked the group’s North America debut.
Their latest comeback, “KILL THIS LOVE”, ranked 41st on the Billboard Hot 100 with the album charting at 24th on the Billboard 200. Their music video for “DDU-DU DDU-DU” surprassed 800 million views on YouTube, one of the highest for a K-Pop group.
The girls are also planning to embark on a Japanese dome tour in three cities: Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka. With their constant activities and catchy music, netizens and BLINKs alike have no doubt that BLACKPINK is on the road to being the biggest group in South Korea.
