The moment led to a fun reference to a fellow girl group.

TWICE looked incredible in retro Y2K fashion looks and more modern, mature looks as well. In a behind-the-scenes video of their photoshoots for the mini-album cover, the members revealed hidden references to meaningful moments in TWICE’s career.

For the photos with their Y2K outfits, multiple codes were hidden in the background for ONCE to find. The codes represented the members’ birthdays and significant dates for the group and ONCE.

For the photoshoot in their sleek, spy-like outfits, they also had references to their past. Sana revealed the formation in their photos was meant to be similar to their debut photoshoot for their first single, “Like OOH-AHH.”

The group loved the mature outfits they wore this time. TWICE’s leader Jihyo couldn’t stop complimenting everyone on how good they looked. She hyped up the members as they arrived on the set, setting an excited tone for the photoshoot.

Seeing everyone in their coordinated outfits reminded Jihyo of their Japanese single “BDZ,” which was released in 2018.

The members reflected on how much they’ve grown since then while Dahyun sang and danced in the background.

As they all gathered for their group photo, member Nayeon realized that she had a holster as a part of her outfit but no weapon. Chaeyoung joked that her weapon was missing too, and they both concluded that Dahyun had taken it.

They decided to search for the “thief” together and brought the camera along as a witness.

When approaching Dahyun, she revealed she did have the weapon and playfully formed finger guns. She passionately got into character, which led her to think of another K-Pop girl group.

Dahyun performed a familiar dance, resulting in another hidden reference, although not one that was planned.

The dance was actually the iconic point dance to BLACKPINK‘s “Ddu Du Ddu Du!” Although the moment happened quickly, it was a fun nod to their fellow third-generation girl group.

Having debuted a little under a year apart, the two groups have shown their friendship before! Check out the article below for more about the two groups’ heartwarming friendship.
