The Only Two K-Pop Boy Groups To Reach #1 On MelOn TOP100 In 2023

Only three other boy groups have achieved the #1 spot.

The top of K-Pop’s music charts have been dominated by girl groups in 2023, with 4th gen girl groups like aespa, NewJeans, IVE, (G)I-DLE, and LE SSERAFIM often taking the top spot on the charts with their catchy releases.

With 2023 coming to an end, only two K-Pop boy groups have reached the top of the popular MelOn Top100 chart, which is Korea’s biggest music provider, joining a list of only three other boy groups who have.

In October, SEVENTEEN released their 11th EP, Seventeenth Heaven, which became the first K-Pop album to sell over 5 million copies in its debut week.

Along with their record-breaking sales, their title track, “God Of Music,” topped the MelOn Top100 chart, making SEVENTEEN only the fourth K-Pop boy group ever to reach number one on the prestigious music chart.

Now, with only 11 days remaining in the year, another boy group has joined the exclusive roster of talented boy groups who have topped the MelOn Top100 chart, and under unexpected circumstances.

EXO released the holiday song “First Snow” in 2013, and thanks to the song being used for a viral dance challenge, it climbed back to the top of the charts this December, ten years after its release.
