TXT's Yeonjun Reveals How He Went From "Worst Dancer" To One Of K-Pop's Best Dancers

Whether you’re a fan or not, there’s no denying that TXT‘s Yeonjun is among the best dancers of the fourth generation of K-Pop groups.

He recently revealed that he wasn’t always the talented dancer that fans know and love, despite being “Big Hit’s Legendary Trainee,” who scored high marks in every category.

At the mention of TXT’s cover of SHINee‘s “Sherlock” that became a “hot topic” from the 2020 SBS Gayo Daejeon, Yeonjun opened up to Vogue Korea about his journey to become the dancer he is today.

Being completely transparent about his skill level during his early days, Yeonjun admitted that he was once the dancer that would receive the lowest marks.

I couldn’t dance. I really couldn’t dance. Since I was the worst dancer at the academy.

Yeonjun didn’t want to stay at the same level and hold everyone else back. He put his all into improving. He said, “But I hate losing or inflicting harm on others, so I practiced really hard.”

He didn’t do it alone. With the help of his dance teacher, Yeonjun took studying seriously by perfecting everything he learned. He said, “If the teacher taught me something, I repeated it after class and filmed myself.”

Yeonjun turned his weaknesses into strengths by noting every single detail. He said, “I also checked and received feedback for what was lacking. That’s how I improved.”

Based on how graceful, powerful, and fluid Yeonjun’s dancing is now, no one would’ve known that he wasn’t born with natural talent for dancing. Even so, it proves how hard Yeonjun worked to make it to the top.
