Gilme calls out Truedy for appropriating black culture in diss battle preview

In a preview released by Mnet ahead of the highly anticipated 1v1 diss battle episode coming this Friday, October 9th, attention towards the Gilme vs Truedy battle has gained grounds.

The fifth episode of Unpretty Rapstar 2 will feature the season’s first ever diss battle. Last week, the contestants paired up which had many talking after idol rappers Wonder GirlsYubin and SISTAR‘s Hyorin were paired up automatically due to being the last remaining ones.

However, with a preview into the diss battles recently released prior to this week’s episode, another diss battle has gained massive attention: Gilme vs Truedy.

In the preview, Gilme’s diss towards Truedy is highlighted in which she raps, “Stop your Halloween cosplaying. Your rap isn’t anything special, there’s no content. Black people? Take that dark make-up off.”

In response, an unhappy Truedy can be seen replying, “Hey Gilme, to me right now you’re a daisy. Just now, unni just told me unni’s having a hard time. I’ll call an ambulance right now and send you to the ER.”

While many, even the contestants of Unpretty Rapstar 2, have stated that the Yubin vs Hyorin diss battle will be the main stage, it seems that the Gilme vs Truedy may upstage it.

Since the premiere of Unpretty Rapstar 2 in September, there have been many viewers who have voiced out their unhappiness with the way Truedy looks, stating that she is appropriating black culture.

One Twitter user shared an image capture of Truedy’s personal reply regarding her background, commenting, “Hi, this is Truedy. I’m sorry for making you feel that way. But I love black culture and I’m doing what I love. I apologize if you felt uncomfortable but I will delete that comment since it is probably not a good thing for both of us to leave it on. Good night.”

Others have shown their discontent with Truedy on her personal Instagram, leaving comments such as, “Stop trying to be black.”
