In The Midst Of Live K-Pop Vocal Controversies, BOYNEXTDOOR Delivers With Impressive Encore Performance

“It’s better than the original.”

About a week ago, rookie K-Pop boy group BOYNEXTDOOR came out with their latest song, “Earth, Wind & Fire”, off of their second EP How?.

On April 23, the group took home their first win for the new track on The Show!

It’s the group’s third music show win to date, with their song “But Sometimes” taking home two wins itself. And as with most music show wins, the group was expected to give a live encore performance of their winning song.

Lately, there has been an uptick in criticism towards K-Pop idol vocals during encore performances, namely for LE SSERAFIM and ILLIT. And as fellow artists under HYBE Labels, groups under that particular label seem to be getting more scrutiny than most, which could have led to harsh feedback if BOYNEXTDOOR didn’t deliver.

Fortunately, however, that wasn’t the case. The members did nothing but impress with their live vocals and rapping, with even the whistles in the song performed on-stage. Fans also enjoyed how the members looked relaxed and like they were having fun.

The encore video has gotten quite a bit of attention on social media, with fans sharing their praise for BOYNEXTDOOR happily.

The tweet was also shared on a Korean forum post, and a lot of the comments on there were positive as well.
