Beloved Producer For “Your Name” And “Suzume” Arrested For Inducing A Teenaged Girl To Send Inappropriate Photos To Him

Kôichirô Itô has been arrested on February 21, 2024, for child prostitution and child pornography. Itô is a producer who runs a huge production company in Shibuya, Tokyo.
According to reports, he met a high school girl through social media, and allegedly forced her to send her naked photos to him. The victim was only 15-years-old at that time in 2021. Itô had asked her to take an inappropriate selfie and send it to him, despite knowledge that she was a minor. His crime only came to light during the investigation of another child prostitution case. He admitted to the charges, and reportedly stated that he had similar interactions with others, and could not remember which child the victim was.
Itô is an associate producer for famous Makoto Shinkai films, including The Garden Of Words, Your Name, Weathering With You, and Suzume.
