Stray Kids’ Han Doesn’t Want The Group To Have A Defining Sound

They’re capable of many different genres.

Stray Kids have tried various styles of music, and while some would categorize their sound a certain way, Han doesn’t necessarily want that to happen.

Stray Kids recently dropped their album ODDINARY and took the time to break down each track.

If you’ve heard the album, you’ll know of the song “Freeze,” which came complete with its own music video. It’s a dubstep inspired track that Bang Chan said, “goes off.” Changbin said that it’s a genre they’ve wanted to work on again since their song “Double Knot.”

The song was written and composed by Stray Kids’ very own 3RACHA (Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han), as well as composer Trippy, who assisted Bang Chan with the arrangement. In fact, the entire album proves Stray Kids are “self-producing kings.”

When asked if “Freeze” contains the sound they want to be synonymous with Stray Kids, Bang Chan doesn’t mind.

Why not? If people can dance and have fun while listening to our music we enjoy it a lot too. The flashier the better!

— Bang Chan

However, Han has a slightly different approach. When he heard the track, he thought it screamed “Stray Kids,” but Han doesn’t think that means it should be the sound that defines them.

While we also love energy blasting, extravagant sounds, I hope that these don’t become our defining sound. We have been and will be continuously creating many different colored tracks of many various genres. If we settle on our defining sound, I feel like it won’t feel right when we make tracks using other genres.

— Han
