NewJeans Spills On How They Feel Watching Fellow K-Pop Idols Cover Their Songs

The K-Pop artists NewJeans once idolized are now fans of them.

NewJeans recently spoke with 88rising Radio on Sirius XM and spilled on their songwriting process, favorite bands, dorm life, and watching popular idols cover their songs.

NewJeans is only six months into their debut, and while they follow a line of successful artists under the HYBE Labels umbrella, they’ve steadily continued to blaze a trail in their own unique way as ADOR‘s first girl group.

When they debuted with their first EP, NewJeans, the group quickly went viral for their charming vocals, unreal visuals, and catchy songs and choreography.

Their songs quickly took over social media, with fans and fellow idols covering songs like “Attention” and “Hype Boy.”

NewJeans turned the year-end awards into their own personal concerts that had their peers dancing and singing along with them, truly proving how popular the rookie group is.

In their interview with 88rising radio, the group humbly spoke of their successful debut and shared that a lot of hard work and excitement went into releasing their first EP.

Previously, leader Minji shared that she practiced “Attention” for two years before it was finally released.

Their hard work paid off, and now, they even have the attention of K-Pop artists they’ve idolized. When asked about fellow idols covering their songs, Haerin shared that it was exciting to see their senior idols cover their songs, and it was something she didn’t expect.

Hanni added that the experience is surreal because she trained while watching her senior idols and would practice their songs, only for their sunbaes to now be dancing to NewJeans.

We know their songs, it’s just weird to know that they know our songs… it was just really fun watching all of the people who [participated] in the ‘Hype Boy’ challenge.
