BIGBANG’s Taeyang Shares His Original Plans To Collaborate With BTS’s Jimin Changed Last Minute

The feature was not in the books initially.

BIGBANG’s Taeyang just dropped his much-anticipated comeback single titled “VIBE” featuring BTS’s Jimin. While fans cannot stop praising this collaboration, Taeyang recently revealed that Jimin was supposed to feature on another song according to his original plans.

The BIGBANG member explained that the making process of “VIBE” took almost two years. He had worked on the song with Teddy Park, KUSH, and 24, prior to Jimin coming into the picture much later. Originally, Teddy was the first one to mention that a collaboration between the two artists would be amazing. Taeyang really liked the idea and eventually reached out to Jimin.

But the song he had in mind for the collab was not “VIBE.” Initially, it was another song that Taeyang wanted to play for Jimin, and hence he invited the BTS member over to his studio. However, Teddy stopped him at the last moment, suggesting that it was not the right song for the collab, and suggested Taeyang play “VIBE” for Jimin.

The song that was pitched to Jimin was actually not ‘Vibe.’ It was another track. And when I invited Jimin to the studio for the very first time, Teddy called me right before I played it and said, ‘I don’t think the song will be that song, ‘Vibe’ will be much better and people will love it.’ And Teddy was right. Teddy is always right!

At that time, the song only had a skeletal draft, without any proper composition, and Taeyang was not keen on playing an incomplete song to Jimin. So, he apologized for not being able to play any tracks for him that day and invited the BTS member to his studio on another day. Teddy and Taeyang finished writing the song within a week, and then Jimin came on board.

But at that time, I had so many songs! I was writing three times a week. ‘Vibe’ only had the backbone with the composition incomplete and none of the lyrics in there but just gibberish. And I didn’t want to show Jimin the song in that state. So, I apologized to Jimin for not hearing any tracks that day and invited him to meet another day. And within a week, Teddy and I composed and wrote the track and then invited Jimin.
